Awaken Me is an app that seeks to take you on a journey. A journey through the ways in which your emotions and your mind keep you trapped.
But it’s a unique journey, because we go on it together. In the app I reveal my own experiences with Fear, with Guilt, with Judgement, with Grief, with Lies and with Illusion.
For Example:
Fear:
One evening when I drank too much because of anxiety, I nearly got in to a very dangerous situation where people I didn’t know picked me up and attempted to take me in to the woods. My friends managed to get me down but the fear of what I had experienced and what could have been stayed with me for a long time.
Guilt:
When I was young I’m not proud to admit that I picked on my little brother. When I went to university someone decided to pick on me. What I realised then was how it must have felt to my brother when I did it and the guilt that came along with this realisation was crippling.
Judgement:
My father is transgender and throughout our time together I’ve battled with the judgements that have came with that, among other things. In the judgement stage of my app you’ll see a picture of me and my Dad in his female form together in Vegas and I explain how through accepting those around me, I came to accept myself.
There are more stories I tell, this is just giving you an idea of the way in which Awaken Me works.
Overall my hope is that through listening to me being honest about how I’ve struggled and how I’ve faced the struggles, it will give you the confidence to be honest with yourself. There’s too much shame in the world at the moment but what we keep in the dark only grows stronger. I think it’s time we as humans stepped in to the light.
Throughout the app you have the option to deal with any one of the stages available, I recommend starting with Fear but it's important you trust yourself, go with what feels right and know that if you're honest nothing can stop you.
